Welcome to Heatherwood PDF Print E-mail

Heatherwood Baptist Church is "A Friendly Fellowship Serving Two Locations." We seek to give a Christian witness in everything we do: worship, teaching, missions, music, or social activities.

We, at Heatherwood, are a conservative, Bible-based church. We believe the Bible to be God's infallible Word to us.

We invite you to become a part of our ministry at Riverdale or Newnan, whichever is closest to you.  At our Newnan campus, we offer a traditional worship style and a contemporary worship style with a live band.  So, no matter what your preferred style of worship, we would love to have you come worship and fellowship with us.

For questions, please contact our Newnan campus at (770)304-0091 or our Riverdale campus at (770)996-1893.

A MESSAGE FROM OUR PASTOR: "SO BLESSED…"

As February approaches, once again, I have the opportunity of reflection. February brings my birthday, yet another year. With each new year comes another year of memories and experiences for which to thank God. He has been so good to me and to my family. I thank God for my wife of 41 years who has been by my side in ministry in all these years. I thank God for two wonderful children and their spouses, and for the ways they love and serve the Lord: Jared and Katie, and our granddaughter, Lauren, in Herndon, Va., and Jeana and Steve in San Francisco, Ca.

February is when I surrendered to God’s call to full time service and began preparations to move to New Orleans to begin my Seminary training, 40 years ago. February is also when I was ordained into the Gospel Ministry, 2/6/72, on my birthday. Teresa and I have been, thoroughly, thrilled in giving our lives in commitment to the churches God has allowed us to serve: First Baptist Church of Fairburn, Ga., Trinity Baptist Church in New Orleans, La., Palmetto Baptist Church, in Palmetto, Ga. and, now, Heatherwood. I could write a book about the memories and experiences that come to mind as I think of each of these wonderful places of service God has planted us in.

Music Notes

The holidays are over and we begin working and planning for the new year. Our choirs and drama team have already begun work on the Easter Musical, "The Borrowed Tomb". It will be presented March 21 at the 11 am service at Riverdale and the 6 pm service at Newnan. This is an exciting musical that follows the story of Jesus' last days as seen through the eyes of two members of the Sanhedrin, Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimathea. We witness their struggle of faith and belief as they interact with each other, members of the Sanhedrin, Mary Magdalene and Jesus. Please keep the choirs and drama team in your prayers as we practice and work to present this powerful story!!

Handbells have also begun. We are working on music to play in church as well as our festival music for this year. Handbell Festival is April 23-24 at FBC Marietta. This year the Adult and Youth Handbell Festival will be held at the same time. Pray for the group as we work on the music.

Hope Piper is working with our children with music during Children's Worship. I am excited about this and look forward to their sharing music in up coming Worship Services, both Traditional and Contemporary. Pray for Hope and the children as they prepare to sing.

Newsflash

Prayer is the practice of the presence of God. It is the place where pride is abandoned, hope is lifted, and supplication is made. Prayer is the place of admitting our need, of adopting humility, and claiming dependence upon God. Prayer is the needful practice of the Christian. Prayer is the exercise of faith and hope. Prayer is the privilege of touching the heart of the Father through His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Our Prayer Center is open to members of Heatherwood Baptist Church and our community.  If you need prayer, we would be very happy to pray for you.
